Ruah Workright

Ruah Workright is a specialist employment service which provides support to people living with mental illness to find work and maintain their employment.


Who does Ruah Workright support?

Ruah Workright provides a service to people aged between 15 and 65 years, who experience mental illness, and live in the community in the Perth metropolitan area. People accessing Ruah Workright need to be committed to gaining and maintaining 8 or more hours of work per week. This work needs to be paid at a reasonable rate.

People accessing Ruah Workright services need to be assessed as being eligible by Centrelink; be willing to release non-identifying information to allow Ruah Workright to measure its performance; be willing to declare any income to Centrelink, and have had a Job Capacity Assessment or be willing to have one.

What Does Ruah Workright Offer?

Ruah Workright provides comprehensive employment support that commonly includes:

  • Vocational counselling.
  • Vocational assessment
  • Arranging work experiences
  • Support with individual job search
  • Assistance with workplace accommodations
  • Employer education and support

The work is tailored to meet each individual's specific circumstances, needs and goals as much as possible. Ruah Workright staff work alongside clients to provide ongoing support and liaison with medical and psychiatric services. Ruah Workright offices operate during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm) however, individual employment support is tailored to the hours the person works and can include weekends, early mornings and evenings.

Ruah Workright also assists people to maintain their employment if they feel they may lose their job due to their mental illness.

How To Access Ruah Workright

People can be referred to Ruah Workright in a number of ways. These include:

  • self referral
  • family or community service referral (generic request for service)
  • referral by a key mental health professional (Mental Health Service request for service)
  • referral from Centrelink and Job Capacity Assessors.
