Wellness Recovery Action Plan
What is WRAP?
“the WRAP course teaches you practical and simple skills and strategies to improve your mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing”
The WRAP program was developed by Mary Ellen Copeland, an American woman who lives with the effects of mental illness. The dearth of information available about how other people coped with and lived beyond the effects of illness left her feeling frustrated. Her strong belief that consumers are the “experts in their own lives” led her to develop and carry out some research on recovery. The wisdom she gathered from people’s experiences about the strategies and skills they used to manage their lives more effectively has been used to create the WRAP program.
Ruah offers the WRAP program over eight weeks for 2.5 hours per week. For more information about WRAP go to www.maryellencopeland.org
